Bláthnaid Treacy

Presenter / Broadcaster

One of the country's fastest rising stars, Bláthnaid Treacy hosts the National Lottery and RTÉ 2FM's popular Official Chart Show (Fridays, 8-10pm), bilingually counting down the top thirty tunes of the week. A regular contributor to RTÉ ratings favourite, The Today Show, she also frequently steps in to cover co-hosting duties. Bláthnaid recently added another weekday 2FM project; called StairAir, the show is a limited series aimed at helping Leaving Cert students to pick up more Irish in an informal, fun way.

Prior to to this Bláthnaid hosted RTÉ One's Can’t Stop Dancing, her own behind-the-scenes series and weekly companion show to the smash hit Dancing with the Stars, for four years. She co-hosted Virgin Media’s long-running lifestyle weekly Xposé throughout 2019 and presented RTÉ 1’s Now You See Me - a four-parter looking at Ireland’s cycling and driving culture - alongside Simon Delaney the same year.

Now an influential voice in the Irish music industry, Bláthnaid is the annual host of the RTÉ Choice Music Prize highlights in Vicar Street. An adept interviewer, Bláthnaid is known for entertaining and insightful conversations with celebrity subjects ranging from rock royalty to Hollywood stars. Slash, Justin Timberlake, Olly Murs, Jim Carrey, Jennifer Aniston, Harrison Ford, Will Ferrell and Chris Hemsworth are just a few internationally known names from an extensive list. In 2017 she took on the role of co-anchor of The Electric Picnic Show alongside Eoghan McDermott, following a successful stint as the production's roving reporter. She also presented the European Border Breaker Awards (the EBBAs) in both 2015 and 2016.

Bláthnaid's television experience began in 1988 - at the tender age of just three months she hit Irish screens as daughter of Biddy and Miley in RTÉ cultural phenomenon, Glenroe. Once the hugely popular show ended, Bláthnaid focused on completing an honours degree in Irish and Archaeology from University College Dublin. She returned to broadcasting with the IFTA-nominated TG4 travel show Ó Tholg go Tolg (From Couch to Couch) which saw her couch-surf across eastern Europe, cultivating a lifelong passion for travel. Wanderlust temporarily sated, Bláthnaid spent four years hosting Two Tube (RTÉ 2), the core weekday show for RTÉ's young people’s programming strand.
